Our dodo..is dead!

Mauritius is known apart from his beaches, the blue stamp for his extinct bird Dodo.Unfortunately we have to accept the extinction of this bird which is attributed to human activity. Its a shame!how people could kill this harmless bird, just for eating it?Any way!what is done is done..
The Dodo (Raphus Cucullatus)was a bird related to the pigeons and doves. It weighted about 20kg and was a tall as 1 meter. As it could not fly, it was hunted for its flesh ,which was described as tough but good.
Who killed it?the arabs?the portuguese?the dutch?the malay sailors?the slaves? I dont want to blame nobody but whoever did this was definitely not intelligent.
Although, we have nowadays the dodo cartoon, the bird really existed at times. Its not an illusion. It was described by different voyageurs visiting the island, the Dutch, the portuguese..Moreover the fossils of the birds were found on the island and are exposed in different museum around the world..
So when you visit Mauritius, dont forget to make a visit at the national museum to learn more about the history of this wonderful bird which is "dead as a dodo"
